2. On the Internet, check the Web sites for the
manufacturers of the equipment that needs backup power in order to find out the
amount of power each piece of hardware draws.

3. Add the total power requirements of the hardware together
to get the output requirement for the UPS you need to purchase.

4. Assume the minimum run-time to shut down the LAN is 13
minutes. This is quite a long shutdown period, but the video editing computer
on the LAN takes that much time to save large video fi les to the hard drives.

5. On the Internet, find a UPS system that has the power
output and run-time (at the output load you need) for the LAN. Find the lowest
price unit you can, but be sure it meets the minimum requirements with at least
10% spare capacity.
