Set Up Two Control Modules that Turn Lights On and Off

In this project, you set up and test a basic light control
system consisting of a command module and two control modules, each controlling
a light. For this project, you need access to an X10 wireless remote controller
module (Model 4000 remote and base or similar), two plug-in control modules
(Model 2000 or similar), two lamps or other plug-in lights, and a room with at
least three wall outlets.

1. Set the house code and unit code on one control module to
A3 using the wheel settings or buttons on the X10 control module you are using.

In this project, you set up and test a basic light control
system consisting of a command module and two control modules, each controlling
a light. For this project, you need access to an X10 wireless remote controller
module (Model 4000 remote and base or similar), two plug-in control modules
(Model 2000 or similar), two lamps or other plug-in lights, and a room with at
least three wall outlets.

1. Set the house code and unit code on one control module to
A3 using the wheel settings or buttons on the X10 control module you are using.

 2. Set the house code and unit code on the other control
module to A4.

3. Set the house code on the controller remote and the
receiver base to A. Be sure the remote unit has working batteries.

4. In a room with at least three wall outlets, plug the two
control modules into two of the outlets.

5. Plug a lamp or light into each control module. Be sure
the lamps are turned on. If you are using control modules with a controlled
outlet and an alwayson outlet, be sure you plug the lamps into the controlled
outlet and not the always-on outlet.

6. Plug the controller receiver module into the third
outlet. Turn it on.

7. On the controller, set the lower select switch to the
left (modules 1–8 setting). 8. Press the 3 on (left) button to turn the first
lamp on. Press the 4 on (left) button to turn the other lamp on.

9. Press the 3 off and 4 off (right) buttons to turn the
lamps off.

10. Turn both lamps on again.

11. If your controller has dimmer buttons, press the 3
button followed by the dim (right) button to dim the first lamp.

12. Dim the second lamp with the 4 button and the dim
button.

13. Turn both lamps off.
